Project: ‘Nolia’

The Current Sauce planning April launch of blog

Calling all aspiring bloggers: The Current Sauce wants to provide platform to brand yourself on Nolia, a new blog subsection of the newspaper’s website derived from the word “magnolia.”

NSU students looking to launch a new blog or simply spread the content they already create to a wider audience are invited to apply on OrgSync now through April 6. There will be an informational meeting Friday, March 23 at 1 p.m. to learn more and ask questions, or email thecurrentsauce@gmail.com

Whether the medium is writing, video, photography or audio, Nolia is well equipped to be a creative outlet and an opportunity to build a portfolio. The new project, led by Editor-in-Chief Alec Horton and Managing Editor Samantha Maiette, is aiming for a mid-April launch.

“We’re hoping this blog encourages the NSU community to creatively engage,” Horton said. “It can be intimidating to build a website or audience from nothing, so Nolia can help give someone the initial push.”

Upon launch, bloggers will need to provide the following:

[ul type=check-2]
  • A unique name for your blog
  • A good headshot
  • A topic to base your blog around
  • Four posts upon launch
[/ul]

After a trial period, The Current Sauce will consider expanding Nolia to host faculty, staff and alumni blogs if there is interest. Email thecurrentsauce@gmail.com to express this interest.
