Despite delays, Chick-fil-A expected to open next week

Students will soon see the opening of the new Chick-fil-A Express, with the grand opening set to take place Monday, Jan. 28 at 9:00 a.m.

While it was originally intended to open last fall, the project has faced some delays, including the hiring of new contractors and weather.

Steve Kauf, general manager of Sodexo food services, said this is due to the project being in the process of getting inspected and approved by the health and fire departments.

Despite the setbacks, progress was made over the winter break.

“I’m so ready for Chick-fil- A to be open,” said Mary Gaffney, junior.

Chick-fil-A Express will provide yet another option for students dining on the Natchitoches campus and will accept declining balance. As an “Express,” the store will lack a drive-thru and any specialty offers from main Chick-fil-A stores.

“I am so excited for Chick-fil- A because we haven’t had one in Natchitoches!” said Mikala Clark, freshman. “I’m upset that it’s taken so long, though.”

The new restaurant is located at the Northwestern State Marketplace on University Parkway, across from Watson Library.
