Football season is beginning to wind down, which means that the return of basketball is near.

The Demons are prepared to take on the new season.

The Lady Demons finished the 2018-19 season with a record of 11-18.

The Lady Demons fought through many injuries throughout the year. Jocelyn Scott, a leading scorer for the Lady Demons the year prior, missed most of the season with a foot injury.

The Lady Demons head into the 2019-20 season with high hopes of turning things around. The Lady Demons have a few additions to the roster that will help them do so.

The Lady Demons acquired Leilani Moncrease, a 6’1 transfer from Diablo Valley, California, during the offseason. The sophomore guard averaged a double-double in her final season at Diablo Valley.

The Lady Demons will also welcome Jocelyn Scott back to the starting lineup as she returns from injury.

NSU’s men’s basketball team is also looking to start the season off strong. The men’s basketball team returns many veterans such as C.J. Jones, Brian White and LaTerrance Reed.

Brian White, who missed several games in the 2018-19 season, looks to start the season strong after being sidelined due to injury.

“Brian White reminds me of Zeek Woodley a few years back when he returned from his injury,” head coach Mike McConathy said in a recent press release. “I think he will do great things.”

“We also have a lot of talent that we are working with this season that could help us in a major way in the correct system,” McConathy said.

The Demons are looking forward to having a healthy roster this season.

After winning their final game of the 2018-19 season, the Demons look to pick up right where they left off.

Demon basketball returns to Prather Coliseum on Tuesday. The Demons play against Centenary College of Louisiana, kicking off the doubleheader at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Demons play LeTourneau University immediately after.
